Dimensions

The size limit for posters is 36 inches X 56 inches. Please adjust your poster dimensions accordingly.

Disk Format

All posters should be saved on a CD, flash drive, or PC formatted floppy. There are no MacIntosh computers available in the lab.

Finishing Up

Please plan to be present in the lab while your posters are being printed. Once your posters are completed, you will be asked to sign our Poster Printing Log with your name, department, number and dimensions of the posters printed. Please be prepared to take your posters with you when you leave.

For Best Results

Image Formatting

Image resolutions should be 150 to 300 dots per inch. Resolutions lower than 150dpi will result in grainy, poor quality posters. (Beware of images copied from a website!) Resolutions higher than 300dpi may result in longer printing times and/or distortion/errors during printing.

Design

To make sure that none of your design is cut off during printing, leave a 1 inch margin between the edge of any text and/or images and the edge of the paper. In addition, avoid using large, complex backgrounds which could result in longer printing times or errors.

Handling

Please note that posters printed in the Multimedia Lab are neither water proof nor light stable. To protect your posters, you may wish to purchase a poster tube, or take advantage of the laminating services offered by Virginia Tech Printing Services, Mish Mish or Kinkos.
