Digital Video Workstation
Our digital video workstation can be used to edit and compress audio and video for distribution on the Internet, CD-ROM or DVD.
Scheduling an Appointment
The digital video workstation is available by appointment only, appointments can generally be scheduled: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. To make an appointment, please contact the Multimedia Lab Assistant at 231-9495 or send a request by email.
Hardware and Software
Our digital video workstation includes an Apple Dual 2 GHz G5, Mackie 14-channel Audio Mixer, JVC miniDV BR DV600U VTR, and Panasonic S-VHS AG-1980 VTR. Software installed on the workstation includes Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Sorenson Squeeze, Flash MX 2004, Photoshop, iMovie, and iDVD.

Audio and video can be saved in the following formats:
For Best Results
- To include a video segment in a PowerPoint presentation, save video as a Windows Media (.wmv) file. Longer video presentations can also be saved as Windows Media and stored on the Mediasite server for on-demand viewing.
- To create a brief video presentation for download on the Internet, save video as a Flash Video (.flv) file. For more information see "Creating and Playing Flash Video Files through Progressive Download" from the Macromedia website.
Audio and Video Equipment Loan
Our Marantz PMD-690/U1B digital audio recorder and Canon GL 1 miniDV camcorder are available for clients who may need a recording device to complete their project.
Checking Out Equipment
A reservation is required to check out equipment. To make a reservation, please contact the Multimedia Lab Assistant at 231-9495. Equipment loans generally last between two and three days so please plan accordingly.
