VAES Weather Stations

AHNR-IT has developed a statewide weather data gathering system featuring ten ET106 Campbell Scientific weather stations. These automated, solar powered stations collect weather data on a daily basis, which is made available over the Internet to researchers and the general public.

Data Collected

Data collected by each weather station includes temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, wind speed and direction, and rainfall. To access this data, please go to the VAES Weather Mesonet website.

Applications

The weather data gathering system has a variety of possible applications related to farm production management and operation including: degree day accumulations, irrigation scheduling, pesticide and fertilizer application, heat / chill monitoring and integrated pest management.
