Master Online Educator Certificate Program

The Master Online Educator Certificate Program is an online, self-paced professional certificate program designed to help educators improve their teaching skills in an online environment. The program addresses a broad range of issues from creating web-based presentations to communicating with your target audiences.

Purpose

The purpose of this certificate program is to help you acquire online educator skills that you can use to do your job better. These skills will help you create electronic curricula, engage learners or clients in electronic discussions, assess learners, and evaluate the effectiveness of your efforts.

You will receive a Master Online Educator professional development certificate when you complete the program. It is anticipated that unit leaders in the College will positively view the completion of the certificate program as a significant achievement in the merit review process.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the certificate program, you will have the basic background to:

  1. Select and develop materials for online delivery.
  2. Use effective online communication in your educational program.
  3. Use the basic features of online collaboration and communication software--Adobe Connect, CentraOne, Blackboard--and determine which application works best for your purposes.
  4. Determine which applications to use for your online learner assessments and program evaluations.

Certificate Program Structure

The program is a set of online workshops that participants work through on their own time and in any order that they wish. Each workshop consists of one to several topics. Participants work through each workshop topic by listening to an online presentation, completing a quiz, and posting a discussion item in the discussion board for that topic. Some topics have a short assignment that participants must complete.
