AHNR-IT manages and maintains the statewide computer network that connects Extension offices, experiment stations, and 4-H centers to the Internet, ensuring ease of communication between faculty, staff, and clientele across the Commonwealth. The network is a basic, critical infrastructure which has a daily impact on the productivity of VCE, the ARECs, and 4-H Centers. It is used daily by nearly 800 people at over 130 locations in Virginia.
The statewide network consists of internet access through high-speed broadband, including but not limited to DSL, Cable or T1 services. For a listing of the current services at the various locations, please visit the Network Provider Information page.
Network circuit and equipment moves for ARECs and VCE Unit Offices are handled by AHNR-IT. To avoid unnecessary fees and loss of service, moves should be scheduled at least 120 days prior to the needed service date. To coordinate a move, please contact Stephanie Collins (540) 231-1794 or Mark Crawford (540) 231-5294.
